4Gbps Broadband
In 2020 Chorus launched their XGS-PON service - marketed as Hyperfibre Home https://sp.chorus.co.nz/taxonomy/term/345, this allows residential customers access to speeds >1GB. The service is provisioned using a new 'desktop' ONT which can act as a RGW or can be set in bridge mode (which effectively delivers the UFB service on a copper 10G Port).
There are some 10G Capable consumer RGW/Routers available however most have a single 10G / 10GbaseT WAN port and only 1G LAN ports.
To get the most of a >1Gbps connection we wanted the ability to have a WAN and multiple LAN Ports able to support 5Gbps, after months of research and a delayed installation due to Covid-19 - when a CPE/RGW was required Miktotik released the cloud core CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS a device meeting the requirements and not circa $3000NZD as most of the available solutions ended up being.
